How to read the Dashboard summary

What each block on the Foyer shows and how to read it.

The Dashboard (The Foyer) is your household's daily summary. We surface the most urgent items first so you don't have to open every module.

You'll find:
- Critical alerts on top: due dates, documents to renew, budgets exceeded.
- Shopping summary: how many items are on your active list and a quick access.
- Finance summary: this month's balance, latest transactions and budget alerts.
- Upcoming Calendar events and tasks that are almost due.

If a block is missing it's because that module has no data yet. Use it for a few days and the Dashboard will populate itself.

Quick actions

Shortcuts to create things without leaving the Dashboard.

From the Dashboard you can trigger quick actions: add an item to the shopping list, log an expense or create a task, without navigating to the module.

Look for the "+" icon on each card. The action is saved directly in the matching module and you stay on the summary.

How to scan a receipt

Upload a photo and let AI process it.

To scan a supermarket receipt:

- Open The Kitchen and tap the floating "Scan receipt" button (camera icon).
- Take a photo or upload an existing image. Keep the receipt flat and well lit.
- Wait a few seconds: AI detects the store, date, products and prices.
- You'll land on a review screen where you can fix any item before confirming.

You can scan several receipts in one flow: they're processed one by one and you can review them in bulk before saving.

Once confirmed, products are added to your history and appear as a transaction in Finance (The Vault).

AI usage: scanning a receipt uses 1 Kitchen AI action and requires a Premium plan. If you run out mid-batch we stop and you can add an extra pack. Tip: when confidence for an item is low we flag it with an amber or red badge so you can double-check.

Question 4

How the Magic List works

Build your shopping list by chatting with AI.

The Magic List is a chat that builds your shopping list from natural language.

For example: "I want to cook breaded steak with mashed potatoes for 4" or "I need basics for the week's breakfasts".

AI uses your purchase history and your usual vocabulary to suggest specific products and quantities. You confirm which ones to add.

It's a Kitchen Premium feature and each chat turn spends one AI action. You'll see the remaining balance in the "Usage this month" menu in the header.

Question 5

Shopping mode at the store

Large-tap screen to check items off while walking the aisles.

Shopping mode is built for phones with your hands full at the supermarket.

- From The Kitchen, tap "Shopping mode" on the active list.
- Items are shown big, grouped by aisle/category, with a wide checkbox to tick with one tap.
- Ticked items move out of the way so you always see what's left on top.
- When you're done, exit the mode and the list keeps items marked as bought.

Then close the trip by scanning the receipt to record real prices and see the transaction in Finance.

Frequent items and suggestions

How we choose what to propose.

Below the shopping list we show "Frequent" and "Suggested" chips:

- Frequent: products you buy often (more than once in your history). Tap the chip to add them in one click.
- Suggested: products you're likely about to need based on your replenishment rhythm (e.g. milk every 7 days).

The more receipts you load, the more accurate the suggestions. Everything stays inside your household: we never share data across families.

Shopping insights and analysis (premium)

Automatic reports of what you buy, where and when.

The analysis section of The Kitchen summarizes your consumption patterns: how much you spend per category, which stores you use the most, inflation for your regulars, peak-spend weeks, and more.

Insights are generated with AI from your confirmed receipts and recomputed on demand. They consume Kitchen AI actions — we show an estimated cost before recomputing.

It's a Kitchen premium feature.

Question 8

How duplicates are detected

Accepted Answer

When we group products and when we ask.

We normalize product names so that "Whole Milk 1L" and "whole milk 1lt" count as the same product. This powers your history, your metrics and future suggestions.

If we find something similar but aren't sure, we surface it as a "possible duplicate" for you to decide. We also unify store names (e.g. "Walmart Inc." and "WALMART" are the same store).

Question 9

How to import a bank statement

Accepted Answer

CSV, PDF or screenshot — we process it with AI.

To import transactions into an account:

- In The Vault, open the account detail and tap "Import".
- Pick files. Per import we accept: 1 statement PDF and/or 1 CSV exported from the bank and/or up to 10 screenshots of homebanking or wallet apps.
- Each file is assigned to the matching account (you can mix accounts in the same import).
- AI detects dates, descriptions, amounts and type (income/expense). If anything is unclear it asks you before moving on.
- You land on the Review screen: confirm categories, discard duplicates (against Vault and against Kitchen separately) and edit what you need before confirming.

Once confirmed, transactions are linked to the account and to the original statement line (so you can trace them back).

AI usage: each processed file spends Vault AI actions (a Premium feature). If you run out during a multi-file import the flow pauses and you can add an extra pack to continue.

Question 10

How to reconcile an account

Accepted Answer

Compare your Atrium account with the actual bank statement.

Reconciliation tells you whether what you have in Atrium matches what your bank shows.

- In the account detail, tap "Reconcile".
- Upload the most recent CSV or PDF from the bank.
- You'll see three tabs: Matches (aligned transactions), Missing (in the bank but not in Atrium) and Extras (in Atrium but not in the bank).
- We also compare the statement's ending balance against your account's computed balance.

Tip: if there are many missing entries, it's usually better to import the statement first and reconcile afterwards.

How merchant aliases work

So "SQ *COFFEE#123" shows up as "Corner coffee shop".

Banks often show cryptic descriptions. Atrium learns aliases so you see readable names.

When you rename a transaction, we ask whether to apply that name to future transactions with the same original description. From then on, any new import uses the alias automatically.

Aliases are per household: what one member teaches, everyone sees. You can review and delete them from the gear icon inside Transactions, or wipe them all from Settings → Account → Danger zone.

Category budgets

How much you can spend per category and how each expense counts.

You can set a monthly budget per category (e.g. Groceries, Transport, Restaurants).

- Progress adds up confirmed transactions of the month, plus a "pending" portion from splits that aren't closed yet.
- Above 80% we mark it in yellow; if you exceed the cap it turns red and shows as an alert on the Dashboard.
- You can edit the cap any time; progress recalculates instantly.

Works for rigid budgets (rent) and flexible ones (delivery) alike.

Financial goals

Accepted Answer

Household or personal goals, in any currency.

Goals help you set money aside for something specific: a trip, a course, a new car.

- You can create household goals (visible to everyone) or personal goals (yours only).
- Pick a currency and target amount. If you link a specific account, progress updates with that account's real balance.
- If you don't link an account, you can log manual contributions.

Refresh the balance any time: the progress percentage recomputes automatically.

Question 14

Transfers between your accounts

Accepted Answer

Auto-detected so they don't count as expense or income.

When you move money between your own accounts (e.g. bank to digital wallet), you don't want it to show as an expense on one and income on the other: it's the same money.

Atrium detects these as "internal transfers" when it finds a debit and a credit of the same amount and a close date between your accounts. They're linked automatically and excluded from expense/income totals.

If we get it wrong, you can edit any transaction and unmark it as a transfer, or manually link it to its counterpart.

Question 15

Duplicates between Finance and Shopping

Accepted Answer

Why an expense sometimes shows up twice and how to fix it.

If you scan a receipt in The Kitchen and also import the bank statement, we might detect the same expense twice: once as a purchase and once as a bank transaction.

When we spot it, we flag it as a "possible duplicate" and offer to link them. If you do, the expense counts once in your metrics but you keep the receipt's product detail and the bank line as backup.

You can review and undo these links from the "Matches" tab in the account detail.

Question 16

How to close an account

Accepted Answer

Archive an account without losing its history.

If you stopped using an account, you can close it without deleting anything:

- Open the account detail.
- Tap "Edit" and mark it as closed (or use the options menu).
- The account stops appearing in selectors and monthly balance, but all its historical transactions remain if you reopen it.

Nothing is deleted: it's only archived. If you made a mistake, you can reopen it any time.

How to create events

Manual events with owner, category and optional flag.

To create an event in the Calendar (The Parlor):

- Tap the "+" button in the corner of the screen.
- Fill title, date and time. You can mark it as all-day.
- Assign an owner (who's responsible) and a category if you want.
- Mark the event as "optional" if it's tentative; it's shown with a dotted border to stand out.
- Save. The event shows in the calendar view for the whole household.

You can also import several events from a screenshot:

- Tap "Import from image" in the Calendar.
- Upload the screenshot. AI detects events, dates and times.
- Review the proposed list, tweak what you need and confirm.

Works great with school schedules, sports calendars and shared on-screen agendas.

Question 18

Connect Google Calendar

Accepted Answer

Sync your external calendars into Atrium.

You can link one or more Google accounts and see those calendars next to your household events.

- Open The Parlor → calendar connections (or Settings → Account → Connections).
- Pick Google and authorize access. The popup closes on its own and the calendar syncs right away.
- Tick which calendars from that account you want to import (personal, holidays, birthdays, shared ones). Unticking one deletes its events from Atrium; you can tick it again any time.
- If nothing is ticked, nothing is imported from that account.
- External events are read-only and you can disconnect the account whenever you want.

Events created inside Atrium remain in the household and are not pushed to your Google Calendar.

Question 19

How to use mentions with @, / and #

Accepted Answer

Link people, modules and categories as you type.

Tasks support three kinds of mentions while you type:

- "@" mentions people in your household (e.g. "@Caro remind me to…"). The person is linked and, if relevant, notified.
- "/" references another module or entity (e.g. "/the-kitchen" or a document). It renders as a clickable link inside the task.
- "#" adds a category/tag. Useful to group and filter similar tasks.

As you type, a suggestion menu appears. Hit Enter or tap the option to insert it.

How to upload and organize documents

Folders, owners and search.

In The Office you upload important household documents: IDs, contracts, receipts, certificates, etc.

- Tap "Upload document" and pick the file (PDF or image), up to 10 MB each.
- Assign an owner (whom it belongs to), a category and, if you want, an expiration date.
- You can preview the file from the document detail.
- Documents with an upcoming expiration show up on the Dashboard as an alert.

You can search by name, owner or category. Files are protected: only your household can see them.

Question 21

Templates for administrative processes

Accepted Answer

Household paperwork workflows with auto-generated tasks.

Atrium ships templates for common admin processes (e.g. renewing an ID document or exchanging a driving licence).

When you start a template, tasks with their dependencies and required documents are generated automatically. As you complete steps, the rest unlocks.

Great to keep long, multi-step bureaucratic processes on track.

Profile and appearance

Avatar, preferred currency and visual themes.

In Settings → Profile you tune your identity inside Atrium:

- Avatar: upload a photo shown in mentions and comments.
- Name and preferred currency: the currency is the default when confirming receipts and purchases.
- Appearance: choose Light, Dark or Blue Hour (a warm palette ideal for evenings).

Blue Hour shortcut: 3 quick clicks on the theme icon (desktop) or a 3-second long-press (mobile).

Question 23

Household members

Accepted Answer

Adults with accounts, kids and pets.

An Atrium household can have up to 4 adults with accounts, plus people without email (kids, other family) and pets you can tag in events, tasks and expenses.

- Adults with accounts: added by email invitation. They share data, AI quotas and everything in the household.
- People without email: just for tagging. They don't sign in.
- Pets: same as people without email, with their own emoji (🐶🐱).

You can edit or remove local people any time from Settings → Household → Household members.

Question 24

Sending and accepting invitations

How to add another adult to the household.

To invite another adult to the household:

- Go to Settings → Household → "Add member" → "With email".
- Type the email and send. The person receives a link.
- On accepting, they join the household as a member and see all shared data.

Invitations expire after 7 days. If not accepted in time, you have to resend. The limit is 4 adults per household (including pending invitations).

Question 25

Account security

Accepted Answer

Password, email and signing out everywhere.

From Settings → Account → Security you can:

- Change your password. We ask for the current one before saving the new one.
- Change your email: we send a confirmation link to the new email. The change takes effect when you confirm.
- Sign out of all devices: revokes active tokens on phones, tablets and other browsers. Useful if you lost a device.

We recommend at least 12 characters and not reusing it on other sites.

Notifications and regional preferences

Language, timezone and alerts.

In Settings → Profile you'll find:

- Regional preferences: interface language and timezone. The timezone is used to show event times and due dates.
- Notifications: turn on/off the alerts you want to receive (mentions, due dates, household changes, budget alerts).

Changes save automatically.

Question 27

Export my data

Accepted Answer

Download everything as a JSON (GDPR).

You can download all your information as a JSON file from Settings → Account → Data → "Export my data".

The file includes:
- Your profile and preferences.
- Purchases, receipts and catalog.
- Accounts, transactions, budgets and goals.
- Events, tasks and documents (metadata; files are downloaded separately).

It's your data portability right. Use the JSON as a backup or to take your info with you if you stop using Atrium.

Question 28

Reset a module

Accepted Answer

Start from scratch in Kitchen, Vault, etc., without touching the rest.

If you want to wipe a specific module (e.g. erase all your purchases but keep the rest of the app), use Settings → Account → Maintenance → "Reset modules".

- Pick the module and sub-sections to wipe.
- We ask for explicit confirmation before running.
- The rest of the app is not affected.

Useful when you're experimenting and want a clean slate in one area without losing the others.

Question 29

Danger zone: what each action does

Accepted Answer

Start from scratch, wipe learned data, delete account.

The Danger zone lives in Settings → Account and includes actions that cannot be undone:

- Sign out: only on this device. Nothing is deleted.
- Start from scratch: erases all household data (events, tasks, documents, purchases, loans, goals). Your account and household remain. We ask you to type DELETE to confirm.
- Clear merchant learning: wipes learned aliases and categories. Existing transactions are untouched; upcoming imports won't auto-rename until you teach them again.
- Delete my account: removes your user. If you're the last adult in the household, the household is also deleted.

None of these can be reversed. If in doubt, use Export my data first.

Question 30

How AI actions work

Monthly household quota, included only in Premium plans.

Everything powered by AI in Atrium (receipt scanning, Magic List, statement imports, insights, assistants) spends "actions".

- Actions are included in Premium plans. The free plan has no AI actions: those features appear locked, with a blurred preview of how they would look.
- The quota is per household: shared by all members. What one spends comes off the common total.
- It renews every month.
- Each module (The Kitchen and The Vault) has its own quota. Actions from one can't be used in the other.
- If you run short in a given month, you can buy an extra action pack without changing plans.

You'll see the remaining balance in the "Usage this month" menu in the header, and in more detail in Settings → Plan.

Question 31

Free vs Premium

What each plan unlocks and what the free trial includes.

The free plan includes everything that doesn't rely on AI: shopping lists, accounts and transactions, calendar, tasks and documents, for the whole household (up to 4 people).

Premium is activated per module and it's what enables AI:

- The Kitchen Premium (€4.99/month): Magic List, receipt scanning, consumption insights and shopping analysis.
- The Vault Premium (€6.99/month): AI statement imports, automatic categorization, financial insights, and the budget, category and goal assistants.

Annual plans are 20% cheaper, and every plan starts with a 7-day free trial (a payment method is required and you can cancel before the first charge).

Premium features show up locked on the free plan, with a blurred preview and an "Activate Premium" button.

Atrium Bundle

Accepted Answer

The Kitchen Premium + The Vault Premium together, for less.

If you use both modules, the Bundle (€9.99/month, or €95.90/year) is cheaper than subscribing separately.

It includes:
- The Kitchen Premium with all its features and its action quota.
- The Vault Premium with all its features and its action quota.
- Independent quotas per module.

It also comes with a 7-day free trial. You can switch from an individual plan to the Bundle any time from Settings → Plan → "Change plan".

Extra action packs: when to buy them

One-off top-ups without changing your subscription.

If in a given month you used more AI than expected, you can buy an extra action pack without upgrading. Each pack gives half of the module's monthly actions, at half the monthly price:

- The Kitchen pack (€2.49): +92 Kitchen AI actions.
- The Vault pack (€3.49): +12 Vault AI actions.
- Bundle pack (€5.99): +92 Kitchen and +12 Vault in a single purchase.

They're one-off purchases (no free trial). Pack actions go into the household total and are valid for 30 days from purchase.

The Kitchen:

- Scan receipts, individually or in batch.
- Automatic categorization.
- Financial insights and questions about your finances.

The Parlor:

Before triggering a heavy action we show the estimated cost and, if you're short, we offer an extra pack.

You have two places to review your usage:

- "Usage this month" menu in the header: quick access with the remaining balance per module and a per-action breakdown (how many receipts you scanned, how many imports you ran, etc.).
- Settings → Plan: full view with your current plan, monthly balance, usage history and the option to buy extra packs or change plans.

You can also find your purchase receipts in Settings → Plan.

Creating an Atrium account

Open sign-up, no invitation or waitlist.

Anyone can create an Atrium account: go to insideatrium.com, answer a few quick questions about your household and then sign up with email or Google.

- You can start alone, as a couple or as a family: up to 4 adults per household.
- The free plan has no time limit and asks for no card.
- If you want to try the AI, any Premium plan starts with a 7-day free trial.

If you already have an account and someone invites you to their household, you'll get an invitation link by email.

Question 37

Credit cards

Accepted Answer

Statement close, due date and the account that pays them.

Credit cards are managed inside The Vault, right on the accounts screen.

- Add a card with its name, currency and the bank account it's paid from.
- Set the statement closing day and the due day: we use them to decide which statement each purchase belongs to.
- Transactions paid with the card are linked to it and don't reduce the account balance until the statement is paid.

You can edit or delete a card from the card itself in the accounts list.
